Greg has always called Colorado home. (Long ago) at the University of Northern Colorado, Greg competed as a nationally ranked, all around gymnast, and team captain, graduating with a BA in Industrial Technologies. Before getting into real estate in 1986, he taught high school and ran his own building company, Sensible Solar. 

Greg has had great success in selling real estate, and also co-founded Rocky Mountain Software Inc. (later purchased by Exceed Systems, LLC.) which produces real estate agent software automation systems. Greg has been active nationally as a real estate speaker on technology and business organization/automation issues.  In the last 7 years, Greg developed a set of real estate contracts for his business that were so successful that he founded ezContract, an internet based real estate contract business that now provides real estate contracts to tens of thousands of Realtors across the country.

The Forney family consists of Julie, wife of 30 years, sons Sean and Scott now 20 and 19. Greg's outside interests include skiing, ski racing, water skiing, hiking, biking, physical training, cars, boats and motorcycles, or just about anything that gives him a chance to play, go fast and enjoy friends.

Wow! Where to start?  We have just concluded a series of real estate closings with Greg Forney that have been nothing short of amazing.  We first purchased a lot from Greg with the idea of building a spec duplex.  The lot he recommended was quite steep but really well located by the gondola and ski trails.  Greg clearly demonstrated that we could build on the lot, and how we might do it.  We purchased the lot for a good price and after the contract was made, Greg through some effort, helped us negotiate an additional $14,000 discount.  We made a good purchase, but never got around to building the duplex.  Why bother?  In just two short years, Greg brought us a full price offer of more than three times what we had paid for the lot!  

 

We were of course thrilled, and I expect every other Realtor would have been quite content to “cruise to closing,” but not Greg.  He actually got on the phone all day and brought us a better second offer from another buyer.  With multiple offers in hand, Greg ended up negotiating another “improved” offer from the first buyer for $120,000 over the asking price!  We were absolutely blown away! 

 

I’m sure it wasn’t easy for Greg, he did some ironing out that we never even heard about, and our closing went off without a hitch. 

So if you were ever wondering what a top professional can bring to the table, just remember Greg helped us win on the buying side, and got us absolute top dollar on our sales side.  To say Greg exceeded our expectations is insufficient, Greg exceeded our concept of what could ever possibly be.

My wife and I recently decided to sell our Steamboat Springs, CO. condo after 14

delightful years of winter and summer fun. Our desire to travel more and my advancing

Parkinson's disease made this seem to be the right thing for us to do at this time in our

lives. 

 

My wife had been a real estate broker in Boston for nearly 15 years and had some strong opinions about brokers...among them the conviction that we would interview no less than three brokers before we gave any of them our listing. One of the three would be Greg Forney who called us some months previously to see if we might be interested in showing our unit to one of his customers and followed up with an email.

 

In summary, our meeting lasted about 90 minutes and Greg was the only broker we met with. His low-key approach, knowledge of real estate in general and Steamboat specifically, and his candid answers to our questions made us very comfortable with Greg. Later, after reviewing some personal information he had left with us, we realized just how strong his background was and what a good "marriage" we had made.

 

We signed a contract and named one possible interested party as an exception i.e., no broker commission to be paid if that individual turned out to be the buyer, which turned out to be the case. We did want to use Greg's negotiating skills and agreed to pay him for that work...an amount that worked for both of us. Not only was the selling price an obvious issue, but also so were the terms of the sale, tax consequences etc. Greg was extremely good at keeping both seller and buyer on track through this highly emotional experience. We feel fortunate to have selected Greg and that the transaction was a win-win situation for both parties.

I still remember your first call to me re: the lot on Ski Trail Lane. It had a gondola easement and most people saw that as a negative. Which it certainly was. In your call you mentioned how the lot presented a great opportunity to have a home right by the gondola!

 

Your optimism certainly paid off. I know you did a lot of work helping potential buyers see the opportunity and benefits of the lot's location. Even near the end when the easement looked more onerous then we had anticipated, you came through with many suggestions on how the buyer could still build their dream house there.
